Rodrigo Herranz

He was born on October 2, 1972, in Mexico City. He studied economics at ITAM between 1990 and 1995. In 1998, he began his film career as production coordinator on that year’s CCC debut film (De ida y vuelta, Dir. Salvador Aguirre). After working on several Mexican and International films shot in Mexico, he developed and produced the debut features of Lucía Gajá (Mi vida dentro) and Emilio Portes (Conozca la cabeza de Juan Pérez). He produced Pastorela (Portes), which sold nearly one million tickets and won 7 Ariel Awards in 2012, including Best Picture, Director and Screenplay. He was executive producer on El paciente interno (Alejandro Solar) and No quiero dormir sola (Natalia Beristáin), which premiered in the Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival. Since 2009, he has produced animation with director Emilio Ramos at Atotonilco Studio, working on short films, videomapping, and museum installations (Palacio Nacional, MNAH, Gran museo del Mundo Maya, among others). In 2016, he completed Batallas íntimas (Gajá)

and Esa era Dania (Ludlow). In 2019, he released Belzebuth (Portes) and Disparos, debut film by Elpida Nikou and Rodrigo Hernández. He is currently finishing Vidas en la orilla (Gajá), NO DEJES A LOS NIÑOS SOLOS (Portes) and developing Hanta, the first animated feature from Atotonilco Studio.
