Gerardo Guerra

**Gerardo Guerra Velasco** (born March 25, 1974, in La Paz) is a prominent Bolivian film producer, production manager, and distributor. He studied Audiovisual Communication in Chile, specializing in Film Production in Spain, and Educational Television in Japan and the Netherlands. A key figure in the Bolivian film industry and the Santa Cruz de la Sierra cultural scene, he has distributed over 80 films and is a dedicated leader on the board of the Association of Filmmakers of Santa Cruz.

Throughout his career, Guerra Velasco has managed major national and international projects, bridging Bolivian cinema with global audiences. As the head of the Bolivian production team, he played a crucial role in the successful execution of high-profile international shoots, including *La Traque*, *También la lluvia*, and *Our Brand Is Crisis*. His international credits also include working as a line producer for Steven Soderbergh's *Che: Part Two* (2008). Furthermore, he brought his expertise to television, serving in production management for the hit Telemundo and Netflix series *La Reina del Sur* (Season 3).

Within national cinema, Guerra Velasco has left an indelible mark. He served as the line producer for the hit comedy *¿Quién mató a la llamita blanca?* (2006), which stands as the highest-grossing Bolivian film of the last 20 years. He also produced the notable Bolivian anthology feature *Rojo Amarillo Verde* (2009).

As a co-producer, his standout projects include the award-winning *Karnawal* (directed by Juan Pablo Félix) as well as two landmark films directed by Rodrigo Bellott: *Dependencia Sexual* (2003) and the highly acclaimed *Tu me manques* (2019). Notably, both *Dependencia Sexual* and *Tu me manques* were chosen as Bolivia's official selections for the Academy Awards (Oscars) in the Best International Feature Film category.

Continuing his streak of critically acclaimed work, his most recent achievement includes his participation in the award-winning film *Cielo* (directed by A. Sciamma), which was recognized by IndieWire as one of the best films of 2026.
